Pictures:
On my
original draft, there were pictures displayed that didn’t show why they were on
the magazine or if they had a relation to the front cover. Originally I thought that it just introduced the schools
different aspects, however, it then occurred to me that the same pictures would not
be issued on every school magazine, so they should have a good relation to the
cover lines presented.
Therefore,
on my second draft, I moved the cove
lines and matched them to the appropriate picture. This will make the reader
aware of what is in the magazine and what the is occurring in the photographs
In addition, I could have used an outline to frame the photographs displayed at the bottom of the page in order for them to standout against the background photograph. Also, this means that it would reflect off the white text I have included on the page, meaning that it will get more attention because the colour white will direct the readers eye's to look at the photograph.

When taking the photographs in the photo shoot, I wanted to capture a range to choose from, but also include one that has a mid shot of a student. Therefore to make this picture different, I made the mid shot an over the shoulder shot to show the perspectives of the school. When it came to choosing my main image for my front cover, I decided to choose one that included all three of the students together to emphasis a friendly atmosphere. However, looking at my magazine, I should have used an alternative image that would get more attention, such as using an image that created eye-contact to the reader.
Cover lines:
The cover
lines were all in identical font, size and colour. Therefore they did not make
each other stand out as they were all the same. This means that they would not
catch the readers attention and less people are likely to read my magazine. Therefore, to improve I would need to include different ways to present the cover lines so they reflect of each other.
With in the second cover, I introduces some more cover lines that used different fonts and sizes. This means they would contrast each other and get more attention- this means that the magazine would appear more professional.
Head Master:
The main title uses a different font against the cover lines, so it stands out.
Also, it is in the colour, black, to stand out from the background. Also black is considered a 'professional' colour, unlike luminous colours because it is a neutral colour. Therefore, it will still grab attention but it will still appear professional.
To improve my covers head master, I could use a different colour that is still considered professional, like blue or green, to make it stand out more than the colour black. Alternatively, I could have outlines the text, so it would standout more. This means it would grab more attention, and people are more likely to read this magazine.
Cover Features:
To make my product appear more professional, I could have included features such as: a date, issue number or a bar code, as this is what would be included in a real magazine.
Conclusion
Overall, I have learnt about magazine features and have attempted to include them on my magazine such as the use of bar codes and titles. However, I believe that I still need to learn the new techniques on photoshop and Indesign in order to create a better quality magazine.
