After analysing rock and roll magazine content pages, I have decided how I want to design my contents page for my magazine.
Firstly, I discovered that I prefer double page spreads than single page because the structure of the page mean that more can be put on the pages. Therefore, more photographs and titles can be included to allude the reader about what in the magazine. As a result the reader would become more interested in certain articles and the pictures in the page will hint to them what is in the article.
In addition, I think that a colour scheme of three colours would work best to compliment the page. This is because the colours reflect of each other, therefore they would direct the reader in to what is most important on the page. Therefore the reader definitely knows what I want them to see. I think three main colours would work best because it will not crowd the magazine page; but it will still make it bright but also neat. Furthermore, as the readers will remember the colour scheme, in future issues they will remember past issues. Also, when seeing these colours they will be reminded about the issue, this will spread the popularity of the magazine.
The use of picture is one of the most effective ways to grab the readers eye because it instantly gives the reader an idea of what the contents of the page is about. One way to get the attention of the reader is to make the model with in the picture look directly in to the camera. This means that the eye contact will force the reader to look at this picture. As a result, the reader will then see the other factors used on the page and will begin to be intrigued and read the magazine.
On the other hand, I think that the use of one main image will get most attention as it will be the largest element of the page. Usually, the image has a relation to something that has been popular recently. So, people will be interested in the picture as it is something that the majority of the public are aware of.
In addition, the use of small images help get attention as one the reader is attracted to this page, the smaller images show more of the content of the magazine. This means that the reader will then read through the contents to find certain article, and will come across more articles they wish to read.
The use of a border would benefit the magazine page because it will give the page even more of a structure. The border would consist of the colours from the colour scheme, this would direct more attention to some factors of the page. However, it shouldn't go round all the page as it may make the page look smaller and less information would able to fit on it. It could only be included on one set of parallel sides.
But this technique of using a border is not necessary as it doesn't give information and doesn't grab as much attention as other techniques.
